Miss La Toya Lewis is an emerging soprano from Brooklyn, NY. The 2010 season was an exciting one filled with singing and learning. She was a Featured Artist with Opera Singers Initiative. Miss Lewis performed in many of their concerts and received the Young Opera Recording Award. She also made her company debut with Light Opera of New York as Clementina in The Desert Song this past November. Miss Lewis begins the 2011 season with various concerts and recitals. A graduate of Binghamton University, Miss Lewis has obtained her Master of Music degree while singing with the Tri-Cities Opera. While there, she performed the roles of Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) and Micaela (Carmen) with Tri-Cities. Miss Lewis was also the Soprano Soloist in the Bach B-Minor Mass with the University Orchestra.

Since graduation, Miss Lewis has enjoyed performing on local stages around NYC. For the 2009 season, she performed in concert with Chelsea Opera in "Chelsea Opera Presents: One Night Only - Covers take the Stage". She also sang Fiordiligi (Cosi fan Tutte) with Underworld Productions. That Summer, she performed the title role of Susanna in Il Segreto di Susanna with Opera Manhattan Repertory Theatre.
Miss Lewis participated in the summer opera intensive workshop International Vocal Arts Institute (IVAI) where she performed with the San Juan Symphony in 2008. In Summer 2007, Ms. Lewis covered the role of Clara (Porgy and Bess) with the Utah Festival Opera and performed the role of Consuela (West Side Story).

In Fall 2006, Ms. Lewis placed second in the 2nd Annual Charles A. Lynam Vocal Competition in Greensboro, NC and was a Finalist in the Spring 2006 Jenny Lind Competition.

Ms. Lewis completed her undergraduate work at Purchase College where she performed Belinda and the First Witch (Dido and Aeneas) and Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro).
